Nathan presents as pale blue-white, with frost-covered plains and slowly shifting ice sheets. The equatorial ring is composed primarily of silicate fragments, probably remnants of a former moon destroyed within the Roche limit. Surface temperatures range from -190 to -80°C at 92 atm, with reflective ice surfaces producing extreme albedo feedback. At 12,692 km across, the surface material is primarily frozen ammonia and CO₂ layers over a silicate substrate. A subsurface liquid layer is plausible at this diameter and internal heat estimate. If present, it would be entirely isolated from the frozen surface above.
